Manfredi Rizzo
Professor of Medicine, University of Palermo, Italy; Adjunct Professor, School of Medicine, University of South Carolina, USA; Director, Department of Population Health, Euro-Mediterranean Institute of Science and Technology, Italy.
Dr. Rizzo is a Faculty member of the School of Medicine at University of Palermo, Italy and Head of the Unit of Atherosclerosis, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Prevention, at the Euro-Mediterranean Institute of Science and Technology, Italy. Dr. Rizzo spent several years in the United States, where he is Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine at the School of Medicine of University of South Carolina.

Dr. Rizzo sits on the editorial board of 16 international journals. His research work combines translational research (focus on the effects and mechanisms of action of lipid-lowering and anti-diabetic agents) with basic research (focus on novel cardiovascular risk factors), and resulted in more than 300 scientific publications (total Impact Factor: >500. H-Index: 26).
Among the recent activities, Dr. Rizzo has been the Coordinator of a Panel of European experts who published a Consensus Document on the pathophysiology, atherogenicity and clinical significance of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) subclasses.
