Michel Farnier, MD, PhD

Michel Farnier, MD, PhD, is Director of the Lipid Clinic at the Point Medical Clinic in Dijon, France . He graduated from Dijon University in 1974 with a Doctorate in Physical Chemistry and received his medical degree in 1981. He later completed a degree in human biology with specialization in clinical pharmacology, and also a specialization in endocrinology and nutritional diseases.

Doctor Farnier is a long-standing lecturer in science and medicine at the University of Burgundy in Dijon, and he has also contributed significantly to medical research in the areas of dyslipidaemia and type 2 diabetes. His research interests include lipid-lowering drugs and the genetics of dyslipidaemia, and he has been involved in numerous clinical trials in the field of lipid lowering drugs, diabetes and obesity.

Doctor Farnier was instrumental in authoring the 2013 New French Society of Atherosclerosis guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of adult familial hypercholesterolemia. His work has resulted in the publication of numerous articles in key peer-reviewed journals.
